1.
Words: Henry Lyte. Music: Stephen Gordon. When at Thy footstool, Lord, I bend And plead with Thee for mercy there Think of the sinner's dying Friend And for His sake receive my prayer Oh, think not of my shame and guilt My thousand stains of deepest dye Think of the blood which Jesus spilt And let that blood my pardon buy But Lord, I am still Thine own The trembling creature of Thy hand Think how my heart to sin is prone And what temptations round me stand Oh, think upon Thy holy Word And every plighted promise there How prayer should evermore be heard And how Thy glory is to spare Oh, think not of my doubts and fears My strivings with Thy grace divine Think upon Jesus' woes and tears And let His merits stand for mine Thine eyes and ears, they are not dull Thine arm can never shortened be Behold me here; my heart is full Behold, and spare, and comfort me
2.
Words: John Newton. Music: Stephen Gordon. Let us love and sing and wonder Let us praise the Savior’s name He has hushed the law’s loud thunder He has quenched Mount Sinai’s flame He has washed us with His blood He has brought us nigh to God Let us love the Lord Who bought us Pitied us when enemies Called us by His grace and taught us Gave us ears and gave us eyes He has washed us with His blood He presents our souls to God Let us wonder grace and justice Join and point to mercy’s store When through grace in Christ our trust is Justice smiles and asks no more He Who washed us with Has secured our way to Let us praise and join the chorus Of the saints enthroned on high Here they trusted Him before us Now their praises fill the sky Thou hast washed us in Thy blood Thou art worthy Lamb of God
3.
Words taken from The Valley of Vision, by Arthur G. Bennet. Altered by Stephen Gordon. Music: Stephen Gordon. Come as love, come as love That we may adore the Father Come as power, come as power Every rebel lust expel Come as light, come as light And illuminate Thy scripture Come as help, come as help With strength to bless, every step We bewail our cold poverty of soul Give us Thyself without measure Magnify to us the riches of thy love Bind us in chords none can sever Give us Thyself without measure Come as sanctifier Of body, soul, and spirit Come as joy, come as joy To dwell in us, animate us
4.
Words: Augustus Toplady. Altered by Stephen Gordon. Music: Stephen Gordon. From whence this fear, and unbelief? Hast Thou, my Father, not put to grief Thy spotless Son for me? And will the righteouss judge of men Condemn me for that debt of sin Which, Lord, was charged on Thee? Complete atonement Thou hast made And to the very last penny has paid What'er Thy people owed How then can wrath on me take place If sheltered in Thy righteousness And sprinkled with Thy blood? Turn then, my soul, unto thy rest The merits of thy Great High Priest Speak peace If Thou hast my freedom secured And freely in my place endured The whole of wrath divine Payment God cannot twice demand First, at my bleeding Surety's hand And then again at mine
5.
Words and Music: Martin Luther. A mighty fortress is our God A bulwark never failing Our helper He, amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe His craft and power are great And armed with cruel hate On earth is not his equal Did we in our own strength confide Our striving would be losing Were not the right Man on our side The Man of God’s own choosing Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He Lord Sabbaoth, His name From age to age the same And He must win the battle And though this world, with devils filled Should threaten to undo us We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us The Prince of Darkness grim We tremble not for him His rage we can endure For lo, his doom is sure One little word shall fell him That word above all earthly powers No thanks to them, abideth The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through Him Who with us sideth Let goods and kindred go This mortal life also The body they may kill God’s truth abideth still His kingdom is forever
6.
Words: Isaac Watts. Music. Caroline Royal. Come, let us join our cheerful songs With angels round the throne Ten thousand thousand are their tongues But all their joys are one "Worthy the Lamb that died," they cry "To be exalted thus!" "Worthy the Lamb," our lips reply "For He was slain for us." Jesus is worthy to receive Honor and power divine And blessings more than we can give Be, Lord, forever Thine Be, Lord, forever Thine Let all thatdwell above the sky And air, and earth, and seas Conspire to lift Thy glories high And speak Thine endless praise Let all creation join in one To bless the sacred name Of Him who sits upon the throne And to adore the Lamb
7.
Words: Edward Mote. Music: William Bradbury, altered by Stephen Gordon. My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly lean on Jesus’ name CHORUS On Christ, the solid Rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand All other ground is sinking sand When darkness veils His lovely face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil His oath, His covenant, His blood Support me in the whelming flood When all around my soul gives way He then is all my hope and stay When He shall come with trumpet sound Oh may I then in Him be found Dressed in His righteousness alone Faultless to stand before His throne

about

This collection of songs is a reflection and celebration of our great rest, Jesus Christ. The message found in these texts is one of immeasureable hope and strength, one that meets us in our sin, our suffering, and in our flourishing. It is the hope that the Jesus, the Son of God, stands in our place before the Father, and that His love, glory, inheritance, and finished work belong fully to us, His people. May the Holy Spirit inspire hearts to rest in Him, as it has inspired the authors of these hymns, and the musicians who have performed them; and may it call to those who have stood afar and not yet tasted such wonderful rest. May our ears be opened as the merits of our Great High Priest speak peace.
